Quick & Cozy Projects

Yesterday, I added two new patterns to Craftsy and Ravelry....
This is the Quick n' Thick Hat made with one skein of LionBrand Wool-Ease, Thick n' Quick. It is a snug and cozy hat for maximum warmth.

The Quick n' Thick Cowl is also made with one skein of Lion Brand Wool-Ease, Thick n' Quick. For this design, I used the remaining yarn to make a chain strip to weave in for a fun effect.

Enjoy!

Opus, a bulky tutorial

Finding myself intriqued with the recently new bulky yarns such as Opus, I found myself wondering what can one make with 42 yds of yarn...

Using a Q hook, I started crocheting and made this ....
and while I was making it, there was this knot....
a knot join and that is no fun, so I recommend winding skeins like this in balls so you can plan around these kind of joins.  That is just what I did, wound it into a ball and tried is again and in the process creating a tutorial for you....

Rnd 1:  Using a Q hook and Opus, ch 40...
take care not to twist and working into the back loop of chain, sc in first 5 chains...
Rnd 2:  Ch 45, sc in 5 sc.

Rnd 3:  Ch 50, sc in 5 sc.
Rnd 4:  Ch 55, sc in 5 sc.
Rnd 5:  Ch 60, sc in 5 sc, holding the ends of the 5 sc together, working through both ends, sl st in each st.

Fasten off and weave in ends.  Voila you have a fun, chunky not to mention cozy necklace....

Now for some bracelets, have you ever seen the Romainian Cord... stay tuned.

Enjoy!

New Treasure

Sometimes you can find treasures at your local Goodwill.  Orla and I were shopping for her Halloween costume.  We found her a costume and I found this...
Made in Thailand and called the Violet Pot and to me it is the perfect yarn bowl.

Bluebird of Happiness

Remember these.... African Flower Motifs....

this summer I started working on Heidi Bears, Bluebird of Happiness.. In an effort to check one UFO (unfinished object) of the list.  I sewed all my motifs together, while incorporating some of the techniques I learned in Linda Permann's, Craftsy class, Prefessional Finishing for Perfect Crochet....

Linda has some very handy techniques for sewing your crochet and...

Viola! I have a very cute and cheery Bluebird of Happiness.  This cutie is made from random brands of size 10 cotton thread and a size 7 steel hook.

Enjoy!
